June 2026 | An Update from Belize
Through Be Free, Flatirons has committed to helping bring freedom to people who are trapped, vulnerable, exploited, and in need of restoration. One of the clearest ways that vision is becoming real is through our Rescue to Restore work with partners on the ground who are fighting human trafficking and helping survivors heal.
Recently, our team had the opportunity to spend time in Belize with AIM, one of our global partners working to eradicate sex trafficking and respond to the abuse, exploitation, and neglect of children.
The need is significant. AIM shared that one in three Belizean children experiences some kind of extreme physical, sexual, or exploitative abuse. In Belize, trafficking shows up in multiple forms. Some of it is visible through open prostitution. Some of it is hidden through familial trafficking, where exploitation happens within families or close family relationships.
That kind of brokenness can feel overwhelming. But the work happening through AIM is bringing real hope.
AIM is focused not only on rescue, but on restoration. Their work includes safe care, therapy, spiritual support, family-style healing environments, and long-term plans to help young women transition into safe, healthy, stable futures.
Their vision for the next 10 years is bold. They are working toward a facility that can care for 20 girls annually, a strong transitional living program, and partnerships with families, churches, communities, and the government to help build long-term systems of care. They are also investing deeply in prevention by equipping churches and communities to recognize vulnerabilities, respond wisely, and take ownership of protecting children.
This is not just about building structures. It is about building capacity. It is about coaching, mentoring, and walking with communities so they can respond to trafficking, abuse, exploitation, and neglect in a way that brings real change.
And Flatirons, through the generosity of our church, gets to be part of it.
As one of our leaders shared from Belize:
“The work that’s happening down here in Belize is world-class. We’ve just been blown away by all the things that AIM is doing. They’ve really settled into not just rescuing, but also restoring these young ladies. It’s the fullness of this experience that they’re having—from therapy to church services. It’s phenomenal, and none of this happens without your generous giving. This is what the Be Free initiative was all about, and here’s the great part: we’re just getting started.”
That is the heart behind Be Free.
Your generosity is helping create pathways from rescue to restoration. It is helping support prevention, survivor care, healing, discipleship, and long-term hope. It is helping trusted partners do hard, holy work in places where the need is urgent and the opportunity is real.
Learn More About Prevention
One of the most important tools in the fight against human trafficking is awareness. We continue to work toward preventing the causes and vulnerabilities that drive trafficking through education, training, and resources that help people understand what is happening and how to respond.
