Fight For Others

By Analise Barros

“Carry one another’s burdens; in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” Galatians‬ 6‬:2‬ (CSB)

We’ve all heard the phrase, “Find your people.” It often comes up during tough times in life when things feel too heavy to carry on your own. While the world encourages self-reliance, the truth is this: We’re not meant to do it alone.

God has good intentions for us, and He knows who we need to surround ourselves with in order to grow exponentially. In Galatians 6:10, Paul encourages us to fight for each other's freedom through Jesus and help carry the burdens of others: “Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us work for the good of all, especially for those who belong to the household of faith.” In doing this, you’ll find that your circle of people will also help you, and you’ll forever have God fighting for you to thrive and live the life that He has so carefully planned for you!

Finding people who are willing to support you in your walk with Jesus isn’t always quick or  easy, but it’s certain to change your life. A good community will show you how good Jesus is and how much He loves you. They will help you find purpose in your walk with God.

So, here’s a challenge for you: Find your people and fight for them! Maybe the person you are going to fight for is a family member, or maybe it’s an acquaintance from years ago—whoever it is, text them, pray with them, invite them, and just be with them. Fight for each other's freedom in the same way that Jesus fights for us every day. There’s no avoiding the challenges of this world, but growing a relationship with God and His people will help us maintain our peace and freedom. Whenever you feel like you're alone and life is weighed down with difficulties, remember that Jesus never intended for us to walk through anything alone.

Challenge/Activity:

Take your time and go on a prayer walk. Let it be a moment to slow down, be present with Jesus, and stand in the gap for others.

As you walk, think of 3 to 5 people in your life (friends, family, coworkers) who might be in a tough season, facing struggles, or just waiting on something. You don’t need fancy words; just bring their names before God. Pray with boldness. Pray with love. Fight for them in prayer.

After that, take a few more moments and use the attached prayer guide to lift up the “least of these”…those who might not have anyone else praying for them today. Let your heart break for what breaks God’s heart, and ask Him to move in power.
